How to Limit Your Priorities

We all have too much to do, too many movies to watch, books to read, sports to follow, friends to catch up with etc… Is there a way to prioritize your life outside of doing what you want to do when you want to do it?  Is there a system to prioritize towards your goals?

Of course the answer is yes, but it does take some effort.

Here is a great system by Paula Plant.

If you execute this you will not only be moving to your goals faster, you will also spend less time on tasks that do not move you closer.  This will cut out some of the fat in your life and will allow you to get more important things done in less time.

We all have limited hours in the day and some of us are more productive than others.  I challenge you to change your definition of productive.  Instead of thinking of being productive as doing something constructive, think of being productive as actually taking steps to move you closer to your goals.

Map out the steps to your goals and focus all of your energy on those specific steps.  Do not count going to the grocery store or reading the paper as productive unless it is a step taking you closer to your goals.  Try using this technique and see how much it accelerates your productivity over the next 1 – 3 months.
